What is Pilates & Yoga Therapy?
Pilates is a type of exercise that focuses on precise movements, breathing, and engaging specific muscles groups. Regular Pilates practices can improve flexibility and strength, as well as improve muscle tone. It is very customizable to fit a person’s specific needs and goals, regardless of age, health and fitness level.
Yoga is a practice that focuses on breathing exercise combined with physical postures to connect the mind and body. Yoga in its complete form was intended to be an adjunct to any practice which nurtures the elevation of mind, body and spirit.

What can I expect with Pilates/yoga therapy
Pilates: We offer private Pilates and Yoga Therapy sessions to anyone of any age who is interested in wellness, prevention, or just honing their skill. This includes those looking for valuable additions to their home based exercise program. We assist recreational and serious athletes seeking improved core strength, flexibility & endurance. We help those seeking a more holistic approach to injury or post-surgical rehabilitation.
We also integrate the therapeutic applications and healing philosophies of Joseph Pilates, Yoga in the Himalayan Tradition, and Thomas Hanna’s Somatic Movement Therapy into our injury rehabilitation program. Other specialty programs include Pilates & Gentle Yoga for a Healthier Pregnancy and Clinical Pilates Applications for other challenges such as Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Scoliosis, Chronic Fatigue, and more. We keep up with the latest in continuing education and are backed by 34 years of clinical experience. We have helped clients resolve a wide spectrum of pain conditions and rehabilitation challenges.
Yoga: If you are looking for a holistic approach to improving the quality of your health, or, recovering from an injury and looking for some new and lasting tools for restoration, Yoga Therapy may be a good adjunct for you. You will work one on one with a Certified Yoga Therapist who will carefully listen to your concerns, evaluate the quality of your breath, posture, movement, and constitutional type. Based on their findings, simple but potentially life changing breathing exercises, relaxation practices, and restorative yoga postures will be administered. State of mind, environment, & lifestyle adjustment recommendations may also be shared.
Yoga props such as specialized cushions are used to make restorative yoga postures more comfortable and enjoyable. If a person has lost flexibility, these props along with expert instruction will allow them to perform and practice a posture with ease. They will then be able to apply the efficient breathing that has been shown to them and gain the maximum benefit of the posture or stretch.
